Résumé

FAME+ is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree programme on Functional Advanced Materials and Engineering organised by high level European Universities in the frame of ERASMUS +.

FAME+ Mobility

Objectifs

To provide high level academic and research oriented education about the synthesis, characterization and processing of all classes of materials with a special emphasis on Nanomaterials, Hybrids and Ceramics.

To offer mobility during the two-year master program to take advantage of the complementary skills of the universities in the network.

To prepare students to enter a PhD program in Europe or elsewhere, for instance at one of the EMMI network laboratories.

Spécificités

Students in this program will be awarded a multiple or double Master degree in "Materials Science" by the consortium universities in which the student studied.

  • Formation en collaboration avec

    Each student will be required to complete an internship either at a European research laboratory or among the associated partners. This is an opportunity to consolidate and discover working methods and to learn how to manage real projects. A written dissertation will be required at the end of the training period to be defended in front of a jury.

Conditions d'admission

The admission criteria are highly competitive


To be selected as a regular student, an applicant must have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Materials Science, Electrochemistry) or its equivalent from a college, university, or technical school of high standing.

Students in their final year of undergraduate study may be admitted on the condition that their Bachelor’s degrees are awarded before they enroll the program in Sept/Oct.

Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their prior performance and professional promise, as evidenced by academic records and letters of reference from individuals familiar with their capabilities. In addition, they will have to explain their career goals and reasons for coming to Europe for education.


All the courses will be taught in English


Students from English speaking countries must provide an official letter from the university attesting English is the media of instruction.

Students whose native language is not English must take the TOEFL [1] or IELTS [2] English examination prior to applying to the Master.

For TOEFL, a min. of 550, 213 or 79 points respectively for paper-based, computer-based and Internet-based TOEFL test is required.

Marks of at least 6 (of a total of 9) are required for IELTS test. GPA (Grade Point Average) must be of at least 75% of the scale maximum.

Other English tests may be recognized by the Consortium if well detailed in the application.

If TOEFL institution code is needed, please use Grenoble INP code : 6050.

If you don’t know your English level before deadline, a letter from your university attesting to your proficiency is mandatory. The Consortium would assess your level if selected.


Tuition fees (participation costs) :

  • For EU students participation costs come to 4 000€ per year. Remind that for Erasmus Mundus scholarship holders this cost is covered by the scholarship.
  • For non EU students participation costs come to 9 000€ per year.

First recruitment wave

Applicants requesting an Erasmus Mundus scholarship have to apply before 15th January 2018.

Second recruitment wave

Applicants not requesting a scholarship may apply until 15th April 2018 and are informed at the beginning of July. Applicants who may need visa are encouraged to apply to the first recruitment wave.

The final selection will ensure a good balance in terms of countries of origin of the incoming students.

Débouchés professionnels


After completion of this Master students will have the choice of applying for Ph.D. programs in Europe and/or working as scientist or R&D engineer in industry.
 
The developed skills and knowledge relate to several classes of materials such as, for example, composites, ceramics, hybrids, nanomaterials and nanostructured materials, thin films, etc. These skills will be highly appreciated by industries in the Materials Science domain or by Laboratories, especially in the following sectors:
 
  • Microelectronics, Optics, Bio-technologies, Energy, Communication, Environment, etc.
