Goals

  • Know the principal processes of material forming.
  • Relate processes, structure and properties.

Content

Lectures/practicals :

  • Processes from powders (powder production, cold and hot forming, sintering)
  • Processes from liquids(moulding, solidification, induction, continuous casting)
  • Solid state forming (rolling, forging, stamping, extrusion, plastic stability, damage)
  • Processes for polymers (extrusion, injection molding, compounding)
  • forming composite materials(elaboration matrix and reinforcements)
  • Assembling (mechanical, soldering, brasing, glueing)

Practicals :

  • A group project performed in a research laboratory in order to fully cover one technology. At the end, presentations to the other groups.


Prerequisites

Elaboration 1 and 2 lectures of SIM-1A, or equivalent.
