Goals

List and evaluate the different materials challenges for future generation reactors

Presentation of the challenges in terms of materials for Generation IV reactors, focus of Sodium reactors.

Content

Short presentation of the different reactors concept in term of the new aggressive environment they represent for materials. Limit of the materials used for PWR. Student should list the main limits of these materials and why they cannot be used in Gen IV reactors
New materials for Gen IV are presented, focusing on their resistance to irradiation ageing phenomena.
