Goal(s)

The course presents the main players, cells and molecules, that are important in immunology. It intends to give an overview picture of how the mammalian immun system works and presents techniques used in biochemistry and cell biology that make use of antibodies.

  • General organisation of the immun system
  • Antibodies and antibody receptors
  • Innate immunity: Receptors and the complement system
  • Lymphocytes: B- and T-cell receptors, Major histocompatibility complexes and tolerance
  • Clonal selection
  • Genetic mechanisms of diversity
  • Immunology related diseases
  • Technics using antibodies
