Summary

This specialization provides a mixed education of physics and chemistry, orientated towards the key areas of 21st century industry: electrochemistry and physicochemical processes. The program is at the forefront of developments in energy (e.g. fuel cells), sustainable development and micro-electronics. This training in engineering aspects is complemented by exposure to the processes of quality and safety controls and sustainable development through eco-industry, eco-design and eco-processes. In addition, the education provided by the Specialization requires students to analyze the complex phenomena which arise in physicochemical operations and to appreciate multidisciplinary models and cross-disciplinary analysis.

Program

The first year

2 tracks are available within the 1st year and lead to a Bachelor of Engineering science.

The second year

The third year

Semester 9 can be completed in one of two cross-disciplinary programs that concern all majors:
> IPEM Industrial Processes & Environmental Management
> MANINTEC Management, Innovation, Technologies

Semester 10

Master thesis (30 ECTS credits)

The final semester of the course is dedicated to the End of Studies Project (Projet de Fin d'Etudes, PFE). This is a study or project whose objectives are defined in advance by the project supervisor. The subject of the PFE must be within the domains covered by the program.

The PFE lasts for a minimum of 5 months, between February and June, and takes place either in industry or in a research laboratory in France or abroad. It provides student engineers with the opportunity to make use of the knowledge and working methods gained through their theoretical and practical education in a professional environment. They will experience engineering working methods, learn how to manage a project and develop their autonomy and initiative.

The End of Studies Project also develops their sense of responsibility by submitting them to a demand for results within a pre-determined time frame. The student engineer is required to produce a report and take a viva on their project.

Board of examiners

Each semester is worth 30 ECTS credits, spread out over the different courses completed. Students must obtain a grade of at least 10/20 in each course to obtain the credits.
