" Using Microscale Electroanalysis to Probe Brain Chemistry "
Adrian C. Michael, Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of Pittsburgh (USA) animera une conférence :
mardi 28 février à 14h
Amphi Jean Besson
à Phelma, site Campus.
intitulée " Using Microscale Electroanalysis to Probe Brain Chemistry ".
abstract :
Carbon fiber micro electrodes, which were invented in France, have evolved into a powerful tool for monitoring certain chemical events in the brain, in real-time. A key reason for this is that their small size diminishes tissue injury and subsequent wound healing processes that confound alternative approaches to chemical measurements in living tissues. Carbon fibers also provide uniquely high spatial and temporal resolution, which are highly valuable in studies of brain chemistry. This presentation will demonstrate the significance of these attributes by describing recent progress on the in vivo measurements of dopamine, an important electroactive neurotransmitter in the central nervous system.
Conférence initialement organisée pour la filiere 2A EPEE, ouverte également pour les étudiants de 3A EPEE et de SMPB.
