Objectif(s)

After completion of the module, student should be able to :

  • Calculate displacement damage in any materials knowing the irradiation flux
  • Determine the main irradiation ageing that affect a given component/material

Irradiation hardening (loops dislocation bubbles,clear bands)
Irradiation embrittlement, ductility reduction (Ductile-Brittle Transition, Davidenkoff diagrams)
Irradiation creep and growth
Swelling
Wigner Effect, irradiation damage in ceramics and fuels (fundamentals for D1)
Radiolysis (irradiation damage in water and polymers)



Prérequis

Statistical Physics, Quantum Physics, Crystallography and Basic Materials Science (phase diagrams, dislocations, diffusion laws).
