Résumé

This master proposes the students to deepen their knowledge and develop their expertise.
In the field of digital signal and image processing, computer sciences and information technologies. A particular emphasis is put on fundamental modern tools for signal and systems modeling, information extraction from experimental data as well as information representation and conditioning.

Objectifs

The program is dedicated to provide the students the necessary competences to become creative specialists in various areas involving numerical technologies, such as biomedical signal processing, observational sciences (geosciences, monitoring, remote sensing,), artificial intelligence (machine learning, statistical inference, computational Bayes methods) to mention a few.

The master is designed to prepare for PhD studies in the fields of electrical engineering and computer sciences, with a focus on digital methods. An important part of the lectures is dedicated to introduce present research and development topics ; this teaching is organized into a series of short lectures given by professional and researchers from companies or labs developing research or applications in the field of information technologies. A 5 to 6 months internship in a research lab or in a company involved in R&D is part of the cursus.

    M1: The candidate should have a license degree, studied 3 years in university level or validated an equivalent of 180ECTS in the fields of applied mathematics, computer science or electronic systems

    M2:
    The candidate should have a M1 level, studied 4 years in university level or validated an equivalent of 240ECTS in the field of applied mathematics, computer science or electric systems. Also, the candidate should prove sufficient english level (CEFR (B2), TOEFL (IBT 87-109), IELTS (5.5-6.5), TOEIC (785-945) or equivalent)

Core courses (24ECTS) @ S1 : It offers basic courses in signal processing, contorol systems, electronic and computer science. Courses marked with * are elective and can be replaced by an appropriate cours from the UGA offer.

Advanced courses (18ECTS) @ S2 : It includes several advanced courses in signal processing, electronic and computer science. Courses marked with * are elective and can be replaced by an appropriate cours from the UGA offer.
  • Signal processing II (6ECTS)
  • Electronics, sensors and measurements (6ECTS)
  • Computer science II (6ECTS)*
Apprenticeship project: 6ECTS @ S2 : this module offers the students the chance to realize a project in a partner laboratory under the supervision of a researcher or a professor. It helps the students to put into practice several theoretical modules taught in the first and second semestre.

Short internship: 12ECTS @ S2 : students are required to perform a short internship (2-3 months) at the end of the first year. It can be performed at a laboratory or at at a company under the guidance of an expert supervisor. However the topic should be approved by the program director. The work of the intern is evaluated based on three criteria: the achievements during the internship, the master-thesis and the oral presentation of the work.

Fundementals of random signal processing (12ECTS) @ S3 : It is composed of 6 courses 4 are required and 2 are elective (denoted with *) that can be replaced by equivalent course from the UGA offer.

Advanced mathematical tools and methods (6ECTS) @ S3 : This module presents recent advanced mathematical models for deterministic and stochastic signal processing It is composed of 3 courses. Students can replace one of the offered courses by an appropriate one from the UGA offer.
  • Inverse problem and optimization (2ECTS)
  • Factorization of multidimensional observations (2ECTS)
  • Advanced Bayesian inference methods (2ECTS)
Advanced imaging systems and applications (6ECTS) @ S3 : This module offers a review of advanced imaging challenges . It is composed of 3 courses. Students can replace one of the offered courses by an apropriate one from the UGA offer.
  • Hyperspectral methods in image processing (2ECTS)
  • Astrophysical and geophysical signal and image processing (2ECTS)
  • Bio and neuro imaging methods (2ECTS)
