Hélène A., an engineering student at Phelma, discusses student life in Grenoble

What made you choose Grenoble?

I always wanted to study fundamental physics, and Phelma was the only engineering school offering courses that interested me in that respect. What's more, as Grenoble is known as a very studenty town, it was an easy choice!

Do you like the town and the region: its atmosphere, sports, culture, housing, etc.?

What I like about Grenoble is that it is very easy to get about by bike, and the fact that you can get wherever you want quickly is really great! And then there are all sorts of activities: walking, cycling, skiing, museums, the theatre, etc.

How do you find student life at Phelma?

There is a very vibrant student life at Grenoble, mainly because of the Grand Cercle (Student Union) and because of Phelma itself. In fact, being one of the biggest student intakes in France has quite a few advantages: there are lots of clubs and associations in all sorts of areas, and events are regularly organised by the three offices (the student, sports and arts offices) - evenings out, concerts, excursions into the mountains, etc. There is always something to do after lectures at Phelma!
