Goal(s)

The aim of this lecture is to deliver a global overview of bioelectronic sciences and technologies. Bioelectronic is a new field of science that corresponds to the study of bioelectrical interfaces with the dual goal of i. monitoring physiological phenomena or biological species and ii. interacting with biological functions.
Bioelectronic could be divided in four main topics:
1.Molecular bioelectronic e.g. biosensors and biochips (that involve the integration of a biological function within an electronic device to assess intensive functions of the environment)
2.Cellular bioelectronic, e.g. MicroElectrode Arrays (which consist on the design of electronic systems dedicated to the monitoring and/or the stimulation of cell networks in order to investigate the collective function of, as well as the information transfer path within, these networks)
3.Medical bioelectronic, e.g. ECG, EEG electrodes, TENS, neurostimulation, retinal implants… (that deals with the design of electronic interfaces dedicated to the monitoring and the stimulation of human functions).
4.Bioinspired nanosystems in which biomolecules exhibiting selfassembly properties are used to design new electronic interfaces.
