Goals

The main analytical techniques to characterize molecular and biomolecular interactions,
nanomaterials, surfaces and interfaces.

Content

  • Electronic microscopies
  • Near field microscopies (AFM, STM, SNOM, …)
  • Surface analysis (XPS, AES, SIMS, EXAFS…)
  • Large facilities (neutrons, ESRF)
  • Optical techniques (ellipsometry, spectroscopies, SPR, OWLS, ..)
  • Nanogravimetry (QCM, QCM-D)


Prerequisites

Quantum mechanics, solid state physics, statistical physics. Electromagnetism, guided wave propagation

Tests

The exam is given in english only 

written exam 4h
