Content(s)

In this course, a short summary of thermodynamics concepts is followed by an explanation of the defect structure of solid oxides and the effect of these defects on conductivity and diffusivity. The commonly observed kinetics of oxidation will be described and related to corrosion mechanisms

Corrosion of Zirconium alloys and of materials for nuclear engineering is discussed

Practical lab work is devoted to the evaluation of the corrosion kinetic and mechanical resistance of Zr cladding expose to hot water environment
