Goal(s)
Experimental overview of materials science courses. Students will perform thermomechanical treatments, analyse microstructures and characterize the mechanical behavior of structural materials.

- 1a - Steels and cast irons microstructures
- 1b - Embrittlement of duplex stainless steel
- 2a - Pure aluminium recrystallisation
- 2b - Structural hardening of an aluminium alloy
- 3 - Ductile fracture of aluminium (Cotterell test)
- 4 - Creep of Zn
- 5 - Sintering of ZnO ceramic
- 6 - Thermal shock of ceramics
Prerequisites
General materials science courses of the syllabus of SIM.
French or english teaching during laboratory sessions, handouts written in english
Test
Semester 8 - The exam is given in english only
Only face-to-face examination:
Reports on each labs + Final defense prepared on one of the labs
