Introduction : access and core networks, role of operators
Optical tranport and access network :

*Basic components of optical fibre systems, WDM technology, optical amplification
*Capacity enhancement (100 Gb/s),transparency and agility (GMPLS)

Protocols :

*SDH
*HDLC
*High speed Ethernet

+ 1 lab on serial link and 1 lab on optical fiber systems



Prerequisites

1st year course on networks

Tests

Written exam (3 h) (E).
