Goal(s)
Practical illustration for the courses of the module.
Basic concept of spectral analysis will be illustrated through the different lab sessions. Reference systems for baseband or digitally modulated carriers will be investigated inclusding general considerations about analog to digital conversion. A dedicated lab session will focuss on signal processing.
Content(s)
•TP 1. Discrete Fourier Transform
Spectral analysis, effect of sampling and windows, TFD accuracy
•TP 2. Digital to Analog conversion
Impact of sampling, analog to digital conversion noise
•TP 3. SML1. Coding with Simulink.
Comparison of different codes, Nyquist filters, eye diagram analysis.
•TP 4. SML2. it Error Rate evaluation.
•TP 5. SML3. Digitally modulated RF carriers (QPSK, QAM16)
Radio context, structure of radio modulators and demodulators, notions around complex envelope, comparison of bit error rate performance depending on the modulation format
Prerequisites
Basic knwoledge of signal processing, digital modulations.
Evaluation is based on Lab session reports. A particular attention will be paid on the interpretation of the experimental/simulation results related to the theory developped in the lectures.
