Goals

When the course is completed, you will be able to discuss and perform preliminary evaluations in the different topics around the CMOS image sensor: photometry, silicon/photon interaction, color science, pixel electronics, performance measurement, infrared imaging.

  • Photometry
  • Colorimetry : the colour science and their coding
  • Photon / electron conversion phonon assisted
  • Traps, generation and recombination lifetime
  • From standard CMOS to Imager CMOS
  • Pixel behaviour : schemes and chronograms
  • Imager performances : SNR, dynamic range, conversion factor, FTM...
  • Noise sources : kTC, temporal, dark, photonic, spatial...
  • Quantum and non quantum detectors :
  • Imagers in IR and THz range

The lectures include both teaching and applied exercises
