Grenoble, one of the main European scientific poles

The urban area of Grenoble accommodates large international research institutions such as the ESRF (European Synchrotron Radiation Facility), the neutron reactor of the Institut Laue Langevin, the most intense one in the world, and more than 200 laboratories from universities, large national and international research facilities (CNRS, CEA, INRIA, INSERM) and industrial groups.

Grenoble, a competitive cluster

Phelma makes up the academic part of the  Minatec  innovation cluster that encompasses our engineers training, many applied research laboratories as well as industrial valorisation and innovation activities on a same site.

At the national level, Grenoble is labelled three times as a competitive cluster

  • MINALOGIC, based on the original fusion of micro-nanotechnologies and onboard software intelligence.
  • TENERRDIS (new energy and renewable energy technologies in Rhône-Alpes, Drome, Isère, Savoie) for the development of new energy technologies.
  • LYONBIOPOLE, Lyon and Grenoble associated for a world centre of excellence in the field of diagnosis and vaccine.

This labelling strengthens the international visibility of the Grenoble region and the attractivity of its territory. All these assets allow the development of a genuine professional community.
