Goal(s)

This course has a double objective: first, to provide the fundamental theoretical elements to understand the operation and design of waveguides in integrated photonics; second, to introduce the elementary functions of integrated photonics as well as the methods to combine them to realize real photonic integrated circuits.

Prerequisites

fundamentals of electromagnetism
use of rotational, laplacian, gradient and divergence operators
mastery of vector space concepts: eigenvalues and eigenvectors.

open book written exam 2h
calculators are authorized.
