Ambitions and objectives of a new school

As a French engineering school, Phelma’s ambition is to become a reference in the field of applied physics, materials, biotechnologies, biomedical engineering, electrochemistry, processes, nanoscience, electronics and information processing.
The applications cover the control of the matter at the level of the infinitesimal and result in today's, and above all, tomorrow's technological objects and processes: From new nuclear power plants to new generation chips, from micro energy sources to laboratories on chips, from broad band communication technologies to the most advanced generations of communicating objects.

Constantly adapting to new market requirements

Within the next twenty years, the fields of nanoscience will give rise to new industrial entities. It is therefore crucial to position oneself today so as to be a key actor tomorrow. The international influence and the incentive to innovation are essential to become one of the major engineering schools in Europe.

A justified and ambitious strategy that cannot be ignored

Phelma intends to attract the best French and foreign students. As the Grenoble region enjoys a strong concentration of high-technology companies and an exceptional potential for research, the school wishes to become the academic actor that will complement this "Companies-Research-Training" trio in order to train the engineers essential for this industrial development.

A varied and excellence training offer

The core subjects on which Phelma is built provides it with strong skills in fundamental and applied physics, materials science-oriented chemistry, instrumentation, biotechnologies, electronics and information processing.

Phelma intends to constantly ensure and update the trainings corresponding to its original trades: Nuclear engineering, materials, component physics, signal, image and sound processing, electronic design, instrumentation, biotechnologies and transmission systems.
