To learn the physical principles of ultrasound propagation and interaction with the matter.
To learn the principles of ultrasound image acquisition

Content

This course introduces the fundamental notions of acoustic wave propagation in fluids and solids, and their applications to medical imaging: equations of acoustics in infinite and finite media (standing waves, guided waves), Green's functions, diffraction problems, imaging algorithms, etc.

The course takes the form of lectures and theoretical / numerical tutorials, followed by practical work sessions where the main concepts covered in the course are applied to data acquired in the laboratory with research equipment.

Semester 9 - The exam is given in english only 

2h written exam (60%) + Labwork report (40%)
