This course aims to introduce future engineers to contemporary economic and social issues, particularly those relating to the socio-ecological transition.

Content(s)

Understanding how the capitalist system works, insofar as it is based on the rationalization of social spheres, private property, commodification, and innovation.

Questioning its inevitability by examining the values (cited) on which it is based, its intrinsic characteristics, and the diversity of its forms.

Rethinking the role of rationality, insofar as it has collective perverse effects, of innovation—insofar as it is part of an unsustainable paradigm—and of private property—insofar as it impacts natural resources and common goods.
