Goal(s)

Provide the basics and tools for analysing, modelling and calculating analogue electronic circuits.
Understand the operation and modelling of 2 non-linear components: the diode and the MOS transistor.

Courses and tutorials

  • Fundamental laws and tools for equating linear circuits
    -Transfer functions, frequency analysis
  • Operational amplifiers: Examples of basic Op-Amp circuits (linear and non-linear functions), limits due to imperfections, application examples
  • Diodes, MOSFETs: characteristics and small-signal models, application examples
    -Basic amplifier assemblies with MOS transistors

4 x 2h Simulation sessions:
Tutorial sessions to prepare for practical sessions, covering questions tailored to each lab: calculation of electrical parameters, component sizing, and signal waveforms.
The simulation software will allow users to visualize signals and predict a number of values, which will then be compared to measurements taken during practical sessions.

4 x 4h practical sessions:

  • DC power supply
  • Basic operational amplifier circuits
  • MOS transistors : an introduction to logic
  • MOS transistors in amplification and switching applications


Prerequisites

General laws of linear circuits in direct and sinusoidal regimes

Test

40% continuous assessment CC1 = 25% practical work measurement sheets + 10% simulation tutorials +5% online tests on Chamilo (on the course and tutorials)

Terms and conditions for final written exams:
Only one document permitted: handwritten A4 RV form (no photocopies)
Calculator permitted (model approved by Phelma)
