Goal(s)
Part 1
- To include materials in the major societal challenges: use of natural resources, energy transition, recycling, etc.
- Make the link between the different courses on applications
- Through a project, deepen this theme on an application subject and work on the skill of bibliographic research
- Make the link with the other Phelma classes via the supervision of projects by the 3rd year students
Part 2
Help students understand the reality of the work of an engineer through meeting with engineers from the industry, that occupy a variety of different functions.
Content(s)
Part 1
- 6h of lectures on climate change and resource management issues for the materials industry
- 4 hours of lecture on life cycle analysis
- 2 hours of conference & debate on the role of materials engineers for the transitions
- 4h on computers on materials and process selection / LCA
- 18 hours of group projects to deepen these notions on a family of materials
Part 2
Meeting with engineers having 2 to 10 years experience. These meetings are designed to be interactive.
