    Types of phase transformations
    Thermodynamics of phase transformations
    Mechanisms of nucleation, growth and coasrsening
    Precipitation, transformations with migrating interfaces
    Application to the main material classes


Prerequisites

Basic knowledge on thermodynamics : phase diagrams, Gibbs free energy, chemical potential
Basic knowledge on point defects and solid state diffusion

Test

Semester 7 - The exam may be taken in french or in english FR EN

  • Part 1 : written exam, no documents except 1 recto verso sheet written by hand
  • part 2 : practical lab reports
