Goal(s)

For the semiconductor part: The objectives of this lecture are the study of generation-recombination phenomena in semiconducteurs (SC) and of the pn junction at equilibrium and polarized.

Content(s)

For the semiconductor part:

  • some quick reminders: SC at equilibrium, transport phenomena in SC
  • Out-of-equilibrium phenomena: generation – recombination, continuity equation
  • pn junction at equilibrium, polarized & under illumination


Prerequisites

For the semiconductor part:basis on semiconductor physics: SC at equilibrium, transport phenomena, pn junction at equilibrium.

Test

Quatum physics : 2-hour written exam with a double-sided handwritten A4 sheet as a document and a calculator

Semiconductors : ~1/4 homework/assignment (on-line tests during the semester) + 3/4 written exam of 1h with a calculator and no documents (a formula paper will be distributed with the subject).
The continuos assignment grade remains the same for the 2nd session.
