Thermodynamic Cycles:

A. Producing Work from Heat
Ideal thermodynamic cycles
Internal combustion engines; Turbojet engines; Steam turbines (nuclear, fossil fuels); Gas turbines

B. Producing Heat from Work
Refrigeration cycles and heat pumps; Gas liquefaction
Exergy analysis and EROI (Energy Return on Investment)



Prerequisites

Fundamentals of heat transfer, differential calculus.

Test

3 hours, written exam
All documents and calculation tools allowed
