Goal(s)
The course aims to provide an overview of current issues and theories in linguistics with a cognitive science perspective (what is linguistic knowledge? where does it come from? how is it acquired? are there properties common to all languages? It also aims to present an overview of certain components of linguistics (such as phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics ...). Specific attention will be devoted to syntax and thus to the study of the structure of groups of words and sentences as well as the underlying combinatorial system.

This course is divided into 2 parts :
1. 3 sessions of 2 hours devoted to linguistic diversity, the different aspects of the historical evolution of general linguistics, the founding concepts of the discipline and the methods of collecting linguistic data
2. 1 session of 2 hours devoted to syntax and the role of syntactic structures in linguistic phenomena
