Goal(s)

To become accustomed to the use of a state-of-the-art research set-up or experiment and to gain a better understanding of what a research experiment in materials science consists in.

Content(s)

  • Groups of 3 students work 6 days (one per week) in a laboratory on a specific experimental set-up actually used for research (typically they have to elaborate some sample and then to characterise it using TEM, X-rays, Auger, XPS spectroscopy, DSC, etc.). Their work is supervised by a researcher in charge of the set-up. The students write a report including the presentation and analysis of their data.
  • Each group addresses a different topic.


Prerequisites

Teaching methods : 6 days (one per week)
Language : Classes and assessment in English, Bibliography In English.

Test

Semester 4 - The exam is given in english only 

Final report and oral defence
