Goals

  • To include materials in the major societal challenges: use of natural resources, energy transition, recycling, etc.
  • Learn tools for modelling the future need for materials in different applications
  • Make the link between the different courses on applications
  • Through a project, deepen this theme on an application subject and work on the skill of bibliographic research
  • Make the link with the other Phelma classes via the supervision of projects by the 3rd year students, and the presentation of projects to the 1st year students in semester 2

Content

  • 4h of general lectures on structure-property relationships in materials
  • 6h of lectures on climate change and resource management issues for the materials industry
  • 4h on computers on software for modelling resource requirements
  • 14 hours of group projects to deepen these notions on a family of materials
