Goal(s)
Hardened safety core equipement have been added to nuclear facilities after Fukushima accident. At Institut Laue Langevin, new cooling systems, as well as new radioactivity monitoring and management procedures were added. So as to train the operators to use such equipements in very unlikely situations, a simulator of severe accident was setup. As part of this course, the student will have access to this simulator.
To prepare the use of the simulator, the students will discover the facility and its physical and operationnal specifities. They will have to prepare their own simulation tools dedicated to the modeling of some of the physical phenomenae at play during severe accidents
Content(s)
Reactor design principles, safety functions
Normal and accidental operations
Modeling of physical phenomenae at play during severe accidents
Lab sessions on the "hard core equipments" simulator.
Prerequisites
Reactor physics
PWR reactor design
Thermal Transfers
Nuclear-matter interaction
Report and oral presentation of the simulation work
