Goal(s)

Experimental training in characterization of components and optical systems in the form of practical work.
The sessions are based on theoretical knowledge acquired or in the process of being acquired to analyze and understand physical functions and phenomena. The sessions focus on characterization tools and expliciting the scientific methodology.

Content(s)

  • Single-mode guides (4h): imaging of guided modes, experimental parameter extraction techniques, fiber optic coupling.
  • Erbium doped fiber amplifier (4h): Characterization of optical gain/loss, spectral analysis, fiber optic system.
  • Neodymium YAG laser (4h): Laser safety, optical adjustment in free space, static and dynamic laser characterization.


Prerequisites

Prerequisite required in quantum physics, semiconductor physics, guided optics, laser physics.
