Goal(s)
The UE "Correlations and Transport" introduces the concepts and tools necessary to describe the electronic properties of a solid. The UE contains two main parts, it is accompanied by TDs.

In the "Transport" part, we will approach the transport phenomena in solids. For this, we will start from the Boltzmann equation which we will establish in all its generality. We will then approximate the relaxation time, which will allow us, in the limit of the linear response, to calculate the various transport coefficients in solids. Finally, we will discuss the main principles of quantum transport.
In the "Correlations" section, we will study N-body physics. We will introduce the Fermi liquid theory and the concept of quasiparticles to describe the effect of Coulombian interactions. As a tool we will use Green's functions and learn the method of Feynman diagrams. We will make the link with observables through the response functions and will approach the fluctuation-dissipation theorem. We will finish with Feynman path integrals which allow an intuitive understanding of some aspects of quantum mechanics and provide a gateway to functional integrals methods.
