Goal(s)

Master the main methods for solving differential equations and partial differential equations, for the modeling of physical phenomena.

Course overview – Introduction to modeling – Introduction to MATLAB.

Solving differential equations. Single-step and multi-step methods.

Numerical integration: Newton-Cotes – Gauss. Polynomial interpolation.

Solving linear (direct and iterative methods) and nonlinear systems.

Finite difference method: implicit / explicit schemes. Von Neumann stability.

Finite element method: nodal-based.
