Registration will be validated by the issuance of a student card, after verification of all required supporting documents. It is subject to the payment of tuition fees, in accordance with the annual tuition fee.
The registration cost includes mandatory and optional tuition fees.
Mandatory Tuition Fees
- Administrative registration is subject to prior payment (or exemption) of the Contribution to Student and Campus Life (CVEC).
- The tuition fees applied at Grenoble Institute of Technology are based on the annual ministerial decree and a resolution of its Board of Directors. You can download the tuition fee
Optional Tuition Fees

- The membership fee for the 2026–2027 academic year is €25.

For international students from outside the European Union:

Payment of the full tuition fee is not required at the time of enrollment. A payment plan may be arranged, but an initial payment must be made in July at the time of enrollment.
Fee exemption
- Full and Automatic Tuition Fee Exemption

Eligible students:
Upon presentation of the required supporting documents, and regardless of the number of enrollments at the institution, full exemption from tuition fees is automatically granted to:- Students holding a French government scholarship
- Students receiving a means-tested scholarship (bourse sur critères sociaux)
Scholarship students must provide:
- The final scholarship award notice (avis d'attribution définitive) for the current academic year - OR
- The provisional award notice (avis d'attribution conditionnelle) for the current academic year - OR
- The final award notice for the previous academic year
For the last two cases, the final scholarship award notice for the current year must be submitted by November 15.
Also eligible for full automatic exemption:- Students who are wards of the Nation or wards of the Republic
- Students enrolled in apprenticeship training programs
- Continuing education trainees under a professionalization contract
Automatic tuition fee exemption: subject to the conditions, based on the principle of reciprocity, laid down by an order of the Minister responsible for Higher Education.
- International students who are covered by an agreement concluded with a foreign higher education institution that grants French students it admits an exemption from tuition fees, or who participate in a European or international student mobility programme providing for the same exemption, shall automatically benefit from an exemption from tuition fees.

- Students seeking asylum; those with the right to remain in France; refugees
- Exemption by individual decision

At the Time of Registration:
Partial exemption reducing the differentiated tuition fees, when applicable, to the standard rate applied to EU students.
Applies to:- Students enrolled in a preparatory cycle (PeiP) at Polytech Grenoble - INP, UGA
- Students enrolled in a Bachelor's program at Grenoble IAE - INP, UGA
- Students enrolled in a Master's program at Grenoble INP - Ensimag, UGA
- Students on a césure (study break) for two consecutive semesters within the same academic year
- Students on a césure for two consecutive semesters across two academic years, at the time of their last registration
- Students enrolled in dual programs within Grenoble INP - UGA (exemption applies to the second enrollment)
- Engineering students required to re-register due to non-validation of international competency, at the time of their first re-registration
- Students re-registering solely to complete their final year project (engineering programs) or final internship (master’s programs), provided this takes place over two consecutive academic years, and the defense takes place before December 15 of the re-registration year
Partial exemption (as described above) or full exemption, depending on the terms of cooperation agreements.
Applies to:- Students enrolled in a French institution other than Grenoble Institute of Technology, under a cooperation agreement with Grenoble INP or one of its academic components
- Students enrolled in a program established under an agreement between Grenoble INP and another institution, in accordance with Article L.123-7-1 of the French Education Code
Full exemption
Students who can justify one of the following situations are eligible for full tuition exemption:- Students with a disability of 80% or more
- Students granted a study leave known at the beginning of the academic year
- Incoming exchange students under a European or international mobility program
- Engineering students re-registering for a second time due to non-validation of international competency
- Engineering students who have not validated B2 level in English
- Master’s students who have not validated B2 level in English, when this requirement applies
- Non-French-speaking international engineering students who have not validated B2 level in French, when this requirement applies
After Registration: By Decision of the General Administrator of Grenoble Institute of Technology
Given the very high level of demand and the strict eligibility criteria, and despite a firm commitment to social inclusion and a policy of internationalising its courses, Grenoble INP – UGA will only be able to approve a very limited number of applications for exemption from tuition fees and for financial support.
This is why it is essential to find out about sources of financial support available outside the institution (scholarships, student bank loans, etc.).
