REGISTRATION FEES AND PAYMENT

All students at l’Institut polytechnique de Grenoble must complete their administrative registration and pay the required tuition fees.

Registration will be validated by the issuance of a student card, after verification of all required supporting documents. It is subject to the payment of tuition fees, in accordance with the annual tuition fee.

The registration cost includes mandatory and optional tuition fees.

For international students from outside the European Union:
The institution applies the regulations requiring non-EU students to pay differentiated tuition fees.

Payment of the full tuition fee is not required at the time of enrollment. A payment plan may be arranged, but an initial payment must be made in July at the time of enrollment.

Automatic and Full Exemptions Under National Law

•   Students awarded scholarships
Upon presentation of supporting documents, and regardless of the number of registrations at the institution, full exemption from registration fees is automatically
granted to:
-    students awarded scholarships by the French government,
-    students awarded scholarships based on financial need.
Scholarship recipients are required to provide:
*  the final scholarship award notice for the current academic year
or
*  the conditional award notice for the current academic year
or
*  the final notification from the previous academic year.
In the latter two cases, it is mandatory to submit the final award notice for the current year by November 15.

-    Students under the care of the State and under the care of the Republic
-    Students in apprenticeship programs
-    Trainees in continuing education programs under a professional training contract

Automatic fee exemption: subject to conditions regarding reciprocity, as determined by an order issued by the minister responsible for higher education

•  Foreign students who are covered by an agreement with a foreign institution that exempts French students it hosts from paying registration fees, or who are participating in a European or international student exchange program that has the same effect

Exemption from national law upon request

• Students granted temporary protection
• Students who are:
                     - asylum seekers
                     - authorized to remain in the country
                     - refugees

Exemption granted by individual decision

In light of recent regulatory and budgetary developments, as well as the particularly high number of requests for tuition fee exemptions based on individual circumstances, such exemptions will be granted only in truly exceptional cases. Applications will be assessed against particularly stringent eligibility criteria. Likewise, the institution cannot guarantee that other forms of financial assistance will be available to all students.

Students are therefore encouraged to plan their finances in advance and ensure that they have sufficient financial resources to support themselves throughout their studies. A minimum monthly budget of approximately €900 (excluding tuition fees) is recommended to cover essential living expenses, including accommodation, food, transportation, and other day-to-day costs.

Upon registration:

•  Partial exemption that reduces the differentiated registration fees, where applicable, to the full rate of registration fees applicable to EU students

-    Students registered in a preparatory program (PeiP) at Polytech Grenoble - INP, UGA
-    Students registered in a bachelor’s program at Grenoble IAE - INP, UGA
-    Students registered in a master’s program at Grenoble INP - Ensimag, UGA
-    Students on a gap year for two consecutive semesters within the same academic year
-    Students on a gap year for two consecutive semesters across two academic years at the time of their last registration
-    Students with dual registration at Grenoble INP - UGA: the exemption applies to the secondary registration
-    Students in the Engineering program who have been deferred due to failure to validate their international competency—upon their first registration
-    Students who must re-register to complete their end-of-studies internship (Engineering or Master’s program), which runs over two consecutive academic years, with the corresponding thesis defense taking place before December 15 of the year of re-registration

•  Full exemption
Provided they can demonstrate that they meet one of the following criteria, students will be eligible for a full exemption:
-    Students with a disability rating of ≥ 80%
-    Students on academic leave whose status is known at the start of the school year and before the annual administrative registration deadline (i.e., October 15, 2026, for the 2026–2027 academic year)
-    Students from conflict zones (awaiting refugee status), particularly students from Gaza, Iran, Lebanon, Pakistan, and Ukraine
-    Incoming exchange students participating in a European or international program for hosting international exchange students
-    Students who have successfully completed all semesters but have been deferred due to failure to validate one or more competencies—upon their second registration
-    Students in the Engineering program who have not validated B2-level proficiency in English
-    Students in the Master’s program who have not validated B2-level proficiency in English when this requirement applies
-    Non-French-speaking international students in the Engineering program who have not validated B2-level proficiency in French when this requirement applies
