Objectif(s)

This course will present an introduction to quantum information using experimental devices. It will expose the main tools and concepts of quantum circuits and their implementation using Solid state Qubits.

Introduction : Overview of the different types of Qubits (atoms, photons and solid states)

Chapter 1: Superconducting Qubits

  • Hamiltonian of an experimental circuit
  • Qubit manipulation
  • Circuit quantum electrodynamics and measurements.
  • Decoherence processes
  • Multi-Qubits

Chapter 2: Spin Qubits

  • Quantum dot rehersal : Coulomb blockade in one and two quantum dots, Charge detection protocols and perfomances, tunneling process between dots andcharge energy spectrum in double dot
  • Magnetic properties of electron and Exchange interaction in quantum dots in quantum dots: Zeeman energy, Pauli principle, Spin energy spectrum for one and two electron spins, Excited state spectroscopy and Pauli spin blockade
  • Detection of the spin state and relaxation properties for spin qubit: Principle of energy spin read-out, Pauli spin blockade read-out, Spin relaxation and introduction of T1, spin relaxation processes in quantum dots
  • Rabi oscillation for spin qubits and hyperfine decoherence: Electron and electron dipole spin resonance, Driven Rabi oscillations and performance, Dephasing and decoherence mediated by nuclear dephasing
  • Coherent Exchange interaction, two qubit gate and charge noise impact: Principle of the coherent interaction between electron spins, engineering of two qubit gate and performances, Decoherence in two qubit gate and impact of the charge noise
  • State of the art discussion on spin qubits
